Opportunities for Grades 9-11

If you are interested in taking College classes next year, please make sure that you talk to your counselor about your options. Intent Forms (required) will be available after Christmas break each year. College application days will start in March! Also, have you registered to take the ACT? The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy is hosting their 14th annual Pharmacy Summer Camp. This year they are providing two different dates to choose from - June 20-23 or ​July​ 25-28, 2021. This overnight camp is open to any high school student who will be a junior or senior in the Fall of 2021. For seniors, one of the benefits of attending camp is that they will be given the ​opportunity to interview for our program on the last day of camp. 

The two camps will be held on the campus of the University of Findlay. All meals and snacks will be provided through the University of Findlay dining services. Each camp has availability for 50 students on a first-come, first-served basis.  Registration is open now. Students who have registered may request a refund up until June 14th. Coastal Pet Products in Alliance is offering Summer Employment to those 16 years and older. Full and part time work is available and you must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. For more information please click HERE.

 

Girls Who Code’s is a free Summer Immersion Program (SIP) and will be virtual in 2021. SIP is a FREE 2-week virtual program

Participation is 100% free, and GWC provides need-based stipends of up to $300 for those who qualify. We are committed to serving all girls and non-binary students but especially those who come from underrepresented backgrounds in tech, including Black, Latinx, and low-income students.

  • Students must identify as female, non-binary, or gender non-conforming
  • They must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior (current 9th-11th grader)
  • Students must be able to commit to the entire 2 week program
  • They can be beginners or already have some computer science experience

During this FREE 2-week virtual program, you'll learn the computer science skills you need to make an impact, get an inside look into the tech field, and join a supportive lifelong sisterhood — all while being virtually hosted by influential companies, like Twitter, AT&T,

Bank of America, Walmart, and more. Current 9th-11th grade girls and non-binary students are eligible to apply. SIP is 100% free and need-based stipends of up to $300 are available for those who qualify. Low tech? No tech? No problem! Metal and Wire Products in Salem is looking to hire eligible students that are at least 16 years old and can pass a drug test. They are hiring students for tool and die repair and to operate CNC and tube bending machinery. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Muniz for more details!
