(This letter was mailed to incoming 7th grader parents on July 17, 2020)
Dear Parent/Guardian of United Junior High 7th Grader,
Transitioning from elementary to junior high can seem frightening for students under normal circumstances, in large part due to the “unknown.” With Covid-19, the level of uncertainty is likely magnified as we plan for the reopening of school. With this in mind, I want to explain how we will do our United Jr. High Orientation this year. Typically, we would all meet in the auditorium to share procedures, etc., students would receive their schedules and have the opportunity to purchase school locks for lockers and calculators for math class. And then, students and parents would have the opportunity to walk the halls and find their classrooms and lockers. We will not be doing a large gathering for orientation this year.
Instead, we will have a VIRTUAL ORIENTATION that will be available as a link from our school website on August 6, at 7:00 pm. This orientation will be approximately 40 minutes in length and will also be recorded, allowing you to access it later if not available on Aug. 6.
To access the virtual jr. high orientation on OR after Aug. 6 (7 PM)
Type into your browser: eaglepride.net (district website).
From the district website, select High School under the Schools tab.
On the high school home page, you will see a link for Jr. High Orientation as listed among News items. This link will not be available before August 6.
Schedules, lockers, classrooms, and more...
After you and your child have completed the Jr. High Orientation, you will be able to stop in the school at any time between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM on August 10 (Monday) or 11 (Tuesday) to pick up your class schedule, purchase a lock ($10) & calculator ($12), and find your locker and classrooms. If you need to meet with our jr. high guidance counselor (Mrs. Raymond), please call to schedule a time that works for you.
All 7th graders will be issued a school laptop this year. Please also mark your calendar for the following:
Virtual Laptop Orientation will be available on the high school web page on Aug. 10.
Grade 7 laptop pick-up will be on Aug. 20 between 11 am & 7 pm.
We are all working to make your transition to junior high a safe and painless experience. Please know that we are here to help and answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to meeting each of you in the coming weeks.
Dr. William Young, Principal
