Hi, do you know who the 5th grade boys basketball team's coach is? The coach's name is Bubba Taylor. He is 39 years old. He has two sons, Gabe and Beck. He coaches the United Eagles’ basketball team. He finds the basketball plays by running a variation of the plays for the last three years, most of the plays are to the team’s strengths. He tries to have lots of movement, and lots of screens to try to get players open. He played from 6th grade through high school. He says that it is crazy how much youth sports have changed since he played. He was assistant coach for the United High School team for three years and coached his son Gabe for six years. He has taught for nine years in total. He was inspired by no single person, he just tries to have kids learn something new and try hard.
The oldest group he taught were high schoolers. He got to teach freshmen through seniors. The first time that he taught basketball was in 2007. He helped out the high school team a couple years after he graduated. His first time being a solo coach was in 2019 at the Salem Community Center when Gabe was 4 or 5. His team's best score was last year, the 4th grade basketball team scored a total of around 46 points. That was hard to do at that age. When he was younger he was a big fan of UNC. As he is getting older he is more interested in multiple teams instead of just one.
