Annual Day of Memory
This Saturday morning at 10:00 am is our annual Day of Memory, held at the Memorial Garden just outside the auditorium entrance in the front parking lot. This is a short program sponsored by our high school student council for the purpose of remembering students, over the history of United Local Schools, who passed away before having the opportunity to graduate. Friends and family from around the community attend each year. This year, our program will include remembrance of three United students with specific ties to this school year. Anderson Bock passed away when he was in 7th grade. Anderson would have been part of this year's graduating class. Lilly Poteet was a 6th grader who died in a car accident this past fall. And just weeks ago, we lost one of our 11th graders, Zeb Snyder. As we remember these three students and others lost over the history of our school, all are welcome to attend our annual Day of Memory program on Saturday.

Congratulations to Maddox Andrea! He is now certified as a Microsoft Office Word Expert Specialist! This is the fourth Microsoft certification Maddox has earned this year, which means he has earned a total of 12 Industry Recognized Credential points and a Graduation Seal in Business, Marketing, and Finance. Way to go, Maddox!!!

25 YEARS FOR UNITED RURITEENS:
As part of our end of year awards assembly for high school underclassmen this morning, Mr. John Biery presented a certificate celebrating the twenty-fifth year for the United Ruriteen student club. Mr. Biery is affiliated with the Goshen Center Ruritan Club in North Benton and came on behalf of the National Ruritan Club to recognize United’s student club. The Ruritan is a rural community service organization of adults who strive to strengthen their communities through service. Joining in the recognition of the 25-year mark was Jim Means, president of the Guilford Lake Area Ruritan, of which United’s student Ruriteen club is affiliated. Mr. Means also played an instrumental role in the establishment of the United Ruriteens when the club was founded in 1998. Mr. Biery and Mr. Means are pictured along with United Ruriteen students and their advisor, Ms. Betty Whiteleather.
