Wednesday night's Sip & Paint was a great success. We have several talented artists in our community! We had fun sipping cocoa and painting our Christmas scenes.

#Adulting students met up with Mrs. Barkley's students to enjoy gross motor skill activities. High schoolers created aprons and personalized stuffed animals for their friends.

Mark your calendar! There will be a FAFSA completion night held at the High School in Mrs. Fitch's room, 235, on 1/17/24 at 6pm. If you need support filling out the FAFSA, I encourage you to attend! 15 United FFA members visited West Holmes High school in Holmes county for the Ohio FFA Leadership night! Students mingled with 200 other FFA members from 12 schools developing their road to leadership, how to drive their journey and stepped out of their comfort zone to grow as leaders! Best part was, THEY DIDNT HAVE THEIR PHONES! (Mean Ag teacher😂)

United Jazz Band and Flight Show Choir are putting on Carols and Cocoa tonight at 7pm in the high school cafeteria. Adults are $5 and student/senior citizens are $3. Enter the school using doors #4/10/14. Enjoy coca and cookies during the performances. Jazz band needs to be in the band room at 6:30pm in dress clothes to warm up for the performance. Come out and hear some of your favorite Christmas music!

Did you know that everything you interact with using your senses (smell and taste) is chemical? Flavor is actually a combination of smell and taste! First year Agriculture students got to put this to test with the sensations of sweet based in different sugar compounds (sugar, sweet n' low and Splenda). Sweet n' low is actually 300 times sweeter than sugar and Splenda is 600 times sweeter! Students then smelled different aromas and described them based on olfactory (smell nerves) response! Next up, students will explore texture.

Congratulations to Emma McDevitt! She is now certified as a Microsoft Office Specialist - Word Expert Microsoft 365 Apps! This certification adds the final 3 points toward her 12-point graduation seal. Way to go, Emma!!!

We would like to thank our latest Adopt-a-Row sponsors for the middle school book machine! Katie Graham and her family sponsored in memory of Bruce Williams and Deborah (Beall) Wright, a 1973 United grad, sponsored in honor of her 50th class reunion. We are also excited to announce that the 5th grade students will now be included in the book vending machine program.

Did you know that potato chips, ice cream cones and chimichangas were all developed on accident? The chimichangas was a burrito that accidentally fell into a fryer with hot oil, the ice cream cone was originally a waffle bowl because an ice cream vendor ran out of bowls to serve his ice cream in.
Students in Agriculture, food and natural resource class started their food science unit last week. Students researched a food that was developed on accident answering who invented it, how it was an accident and how the development impacts agriculture. Did you Students then built a 3-D model of the food using art supplies. Check out their creations
