High-school Students in Mr.Gentry’s Ag program traveled to Columbiana County fair grounds to attend the 1st ever Agricultural Career Expo. Students got to network with local and state Ag agencies, businesses and community members, attend resume & interview workshops and even got addressed by Congressman Bill Johnson on the importance of Agricultural leaders. Thank you to Columbiana County Extension office for planning the event!

Mr. Gentry’s 8th grade intro to Agriculture class is wrapping up the welding unit. Students got to try their hand at Shielded metal arc welding or more commonly know as Stick welding. There were several students who were excellent at the skill and they helped teach the other students!

VETERANS DAY PROGRAM - NOV. 11, 2022 United Middle School & High School are extending an invitation (for all Veterans and also anyone currently serving in our military branches) to attend a program honoring their service on Friday, November 11, 2022. We will begin with a breakfast served at 8:30am and the program will begin at 9:00am. All Veterans and a spouse/guest are welcome to attend. We welcomed Katelyn Haver, PA-C from Aultman Emergency room into Mr. Gentry’s career exploration class today. Katelyn discussed what it took to become a Physician Assistant, answered medical questions and even taught the students how to give medical injections & stitches. The students enjoyed practicing being a medical professional.

FOOD DRIVE TROPHY RETURNS TO UNITED! United brings the Clash of the Cans food drive challenge with Lisbon back to United last evening, having collected 2,341 food items over the course of this week. The traveling trophy will stay at United until the contest resumes next fall.

Vylette Hill, an 8th grade Vocational Agriculture student in Mr. Gentry’s intro to Ag. Class recently submitted this design to an FFA Sticker contest sponsored my Precision Planting. If Vylette’s design is chosen, there will be over 30,000 stickers handed out at the 2022 National FFA Convention. We are very excited to see how her design does!

Lisbon and United High Schools Team Up for Community Service! With there being no school at United on Friday, TOMORROW (Thursday) is the last day of the week to bring in food items for the Clash of the Cans food drive challenge. Lisbon and United Student Councils are sponsoring the food drive contest between the two schools as a way to raise donated food items to help those that need in both communities. The contest has been going at each school over the course of this week, with a traveling trophy to be awarded to the school of the current year champion. In short, the school that collects the most food items this week will be the 2022 Clash of the Cans Champion. The winning school will be announced at half-time during the varsity football game this Friday, when Lisbon travels to take on United at home. GO EAGLES!
