United students are shown explaining the new hydroponic growing project. The towers were purchased to grow lettuce and other vegetables for the cafeteria and Life Skills classes with a grant from the Columbiana County Health Department. As students learn, they are then able to teach and connect with other students and our community. We're all looking forward to the harvest!

Congratulations to Nathan Marhefka who was 1 of 11 students recognized at the County Heads Above the Rest program yesterday. Each year, the Educational Service Center of Columbiana County honors students who have scored in the 97th percentile (top 3% in the country) on college admission tests (ACT/SAT). Each Heads Above the Rest honoree is then asked to choose and write about a teacher who made a significant impact on their educational career. These teachers receive the Star Educator award as part of the program. Nathan chose Mr. Jones, writing that his influence on him as a teacher and coach have helped to make him the person he is today. Well done, Nathan and Kudos to Mr. Jones!
